TL;DR

Prediko is the best demand forecasting software for most Shopify brands in 2026, from $49/mo on the monthly plan (prices checked on vendor pages, October 2026). StockTrim starts at $67/mo, or less billed annually, and connects to more platforms than Prediko. Inventory Planner and Flieber fit multichannel brands but quote prices on request, and Netstock starts higher, at $900/mo.

ToolsGroup, RELEX and Lokad sit at the enterprise end, and none publishes a list price.

Key facts8 tools compared: Prediko, StockTrim, Inventory Planner, Flieber, Netstock, RELEX, ToolsGroup…
  • Updated: October 9, 2026
  • Top pick: Prediko (best for: Shopify brands that want forecasting and purchase orders in one app)
  • Top pick price as of October 9, 2026: Prediko: From $49/mo monthly (smallest GMV band); 14-day free trial; price rises with GMV.
  • 8 tools compared: Prediko, StockTrim, Inventory Planner, Flieber, Netstock, RELEX, ToolsGroup, Lokad
  • StockTrim (best for: Brands and wholesalers on Shopify, NetSuite, Cin7, QuickBooks or Xero): From $67/mo monthly, less billed annually (smallest revenue band); 14-day trial.
  • Inventory Planner (best for: Multichannel brands and wholesalers selling across Shopify, Amazon and an ERP): Publishes no list price; priced on inventory volume, request pricing; unlimited users.
  • Flieber (best for: Brands selling wholesale, retail and online that want an AI planner on top of their ERP): Price quoted after a demo, from your sales volume, channels and SKU count; 14-day free trial.

Stockouts and dead stock look like opposite problems, but both come from the same bad forecast: order too little of the winner and you lose sales, order too much of the also-ran and your cash sits on a shelf.

Forecasting software exists to shrink that error, which makes it one of the most direct levers on working capital for a brand doing a few million dollars a year.

The catch is that the market splits in two: tools built for Shopify and Amazon brands publish prices and start a trial in an afternoon, while enterprise planning suites sell through demos and take months.

Most online lists mix the two, so we ordered this one by fit for a $1M to $50M ecommerce brand first and labelled the enterprise options clearly.

One name you will still see in older lists, Cogsy, has been discontinued, according to its own site, so it is not ranked.

Retailpresso data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 104 supply chain tools in its October 2026 ranking, and only 3 of the 8 tools below publish a price you can read without talking to sales. That gap is why a table of dated prices helps more here than another feature list.

What it is

Demand forecasting software is a tool that predicts how many units of each product you will sell over a future period, then turns that prediction into a buying plan for each SKU.

It reads your sales history, adjusts for seasonality, promotions and lead times, and tells you what to reorder and when.

It differs from inventory management software, which counts what you hold and syncs it across channels.

Forecasting sits on top and decides what to buy next. If you need the counting layer first, start with our best inventory management software guide, or see how Finale Inventory handles purchasing.

Why it matters

A forecast is only useful if it changes what you order, so the real question is how much tooling your catalog justifies. A spreadsheet is enough while you sell a few dozen SKUs on one channel with one supplier and stable demand.

The threshold arrives when you add a second sales channel, a supplier with a long lead time, or products whose sales swing with season and promotions. At that point the spreadsheet stops tracking lead times and you start guessing.

Cost should be read against what the forecast protects.

A tool priced by revenue, like Prediko or StockTrim, costs you more as you grow but never more than a small slice of the inventory it manages. For the wider stack around it, see our best Shopify apps and best order management systems guides.

Key features to look for

Forecast methodEssential
Statistical, machine learning or probabilistic models. Vendors describe theirs differently, so ask for a backtest on your own SKUs, not a demo on sample data.
IntegrationsEssential
Native sync with Shopify, Amazon, your ERP and your 3PL decides whether the forecast uses real data or a weekly CSV upload.
Lead times and purchase ordersEssential
A forecast that stops at a number is a report. The useful tools turn it into purchase order suggestions that respect supplier lead times.
New products and seasonality
Launches have no sales history and many products spike once a year. Check how each tool forecasts a SKU it has never seen sell.
Pricing basis
Revenue-based, volume-based or quote only. The basis decides whether the bill tracks your growth or arrives as a surprise at renewal.
Time to value
Setup runs from under an hour on self-serve tools to several weeks on enterprise ones, which matters if you are planning for a peak season.

Pricing

Prices were verified on each vendor's own site in October 2026 (see Prediko pricing, StockTrim pricing and Netstock pricing).

Prediko is priced by gross merchandise value over the last 12 months, and the table lists its first five bands on monthly and annual billing. StockTrim is priced by annual revenue in eleven bands, and the table lists three of them.

For a brand at about $1.5M a year, that works out to $199 a month on Prediko or $197 on StockTrim before annual discounts, or roughly $2,000 to $2,400 a year, which is small next to the inventory it plans. Netstock starts at $900 a month, about $10,800 a year, and the other five publish no list price.

Mistakes to avoid
×Buying an enterprise suite for a catalog a self-serve tool would handle. A $5M Shopify brand gains little from a planning platform that takes months to roll out and has no public price.
×Trusting a vendor's headline accuracy figures instead of testing on your own history. Export twelve months of sales for your 50 busiest SKUs and ask any vendor to forecast the last quarter blind.
×Forecasting without supplier lead times. A perfect demand number still produces a stockout if the tool thinks your factory ships in two weeks and it takes ten.
Expert tips
→Run two trials in parallel on the same SKUs. Prediko, StockTrim and Flieber all offer 14-day trials, enough time to compare their suggested order quantities with what you actually bought.
→Decide on channels first. If Amazon is a major channel or you run NetSuite, put StockTrim, Inventory Planner or Flieber on the shortlist before looking at Shopify-only apps.
→Ask about new products. Launches have no history, and a tool that cannot forecast them leaves your riskiest buying decisions back in a spreadsheet.

The bottom line

For a Shopify brand, Prediko is the clearest starting point: a published price at every band, a 14-day trial and purchase orders built in. If you sell on more platforms or run an ERP, StockTrim covers more connectors at a similar price.

Move to Inventory Planner or Flieber when Amazon, wholesale and several warehouses make a quote worth asking for.

Reserve Netstock, ToolsGroup, RELEX and Lokad for the point where an ERP and a planning team are already in place.

Methodology: we compared eight tools on vendor pricing pages, product pages and integration lists in October 2026, and ranked by fit for small and mid-size ecommerce brands before enterprise suites.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best demand forecasting software for ecommerce in 2026?
Prediko for most Shopify brands, from $49 a month on the monthly plan, verified on its pricing page in October 2026. StockTrim is the better fit if you sell on several platforms or run an ERP, starting lower when billed annually. Inventory Planner and Flieber suit multichannel brands but quote prices on request.
How much does demand forecasting software cost?
Self-serve tools scale with revenue: Prediko runs up to $349 a month for brands in the first four GMV bands, and StockTrim from $67 to $497 a month across its first seven revenue bands, on monthly billing. Netstock starts at $900 a month. Inventory Planner, Flieber, ToolsGroup, RELEX and Lokad publish no list price.
Do I need software or is a spreadsheet enough?
A spreadsheet works while you sell a small catalog on one channel from one supplier with steady demand. Once you add a second channel, long supplier lead times or strong seasonality, manual forecasts drift and software pays for itself. Prediko and StockTrim both offer 14-day trials, so you can test the switch cheaply.
Is there a free demand forecasting tool?
None of the eight tools has a permanent free plan. Prediko, StockTrim and Flieber offer 14-day free trials, and StockTrim and Flieber say no card is needed. Inventory Planner and Netstock list no trial and start with a demo.
What is the difference between demand forecasting and inventory management software?
Inventory management software counts stock and syncs it across channels, while demand forecasting software predicts future sales per SKU and recommends purchase quantities. Most brands need the counting layer first and add forecasting once they have enough sales history. Our inventory management guide covers the first layer.
