Finale Inventory Review
A barcode-driven inventory and warehouse system for growing multichannel ecommerce brands, priced from $499/month once spreadsheets stop scaling.
Finale Inventory is one of the strongest barcode-first inventory systems for growing multichannel sellers, and its warehouse scanning is a real step above cheaper apps. Pricing is custom and quote-based, starting from $499/month, set by users, integrations, and order volume, with the Barcode WMS module and setup fees billed on top.
The catch: there is no free plan, no public trial, and no self-serve tiers, so you commit to a sales call before you see your real number. If your order volume is small, Zoho Inventory does most of the same job from $29/month.

If you sell across Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, and a couple of marketplaces, the moment your spreadsheet stops keeping stock counts straight is the moment you start looking at software like Finale Inventory.
It sits in a crowded middle of the market: heavier than a Shopify app, lighter than a full ERP, and built specifically around barcode scanning in the warehouse.
The real question is not whether Finale works, it does, but whether it earns its $499/month floor when tools like Zoho Inventory start at $29.
This review is written for ecommerce and retail operators actually deciding where to put their money.
We pulled Finale's live pricing and product pages, checked what the Barcode WMS module really adds, and compared it against the tools buyers cross-shop most often. We care about total cost, setup effort, and whether the warehouse features justify the premium, not marketing claims.
What is Finale Inventory?
Finale Inventory is cloud-based inventory and warehouse management software, now part of The Descartes Systems Group and branded Descartes Finale.
Its job is to be the single source of truth for stock and cost across every channel you sell on, so you are not overselling on eBay while a pallet sits unlogged in the back.
The core product bundles four things.
Multichannel sync keeps quantities aligned in real time across Shopify, Amazon FBA, Walmart, eBay, Etsy, and 40-plus other integrations. Purchasing and replenishment handle reorder points, purchase orders, landed cost, and supplier management, with Amazon-specific FBA replenishment and AWD support baked in.
Financial reporting auto-calculates COGS, margin, and inventory asset valuation, and pushes to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
The fourth piece, the optional Barcode WMS module, is where Finale earns its reputation: mobile scanning for receiving, putaway, picking, packing, and cycle counts, plus lot and expiration tracking and label printing.
It is aimed at growing brands that have outgrown spreadsheets and native marketplace tools but do not want the cost and implementation drag of NetSuite.
Finale scales to 300 users, 1.5 million products, and 1.5 million monthly orders, so it is not just for tiny shops.
How Finale Inventory works
Getting started is not a swipe-a-card-and-go affair. Because pricing is scoped to your setup, onboarding begins with a sales conversation, and paid onboarding and support are bundled into every plan. Once configured, you connect your sales channels and accounting, import products, and set reorder points and locations.
Finale's interface is functional rather than pretty: dense grids, saved views, and deeply customizable reports and documents, which power users like and first-timers find a little dated.
Day to day, the rhythm is steady: orders flow in from every channel, stock decrements everywhere at once, low-stock items surface for reordering, and the warehouse team runs receiving and pick-pack from handheld scanners.
The Barcode WMS module drives that floor workflow and works with standard scanners and label printers rather than locking you into proprietary hardware. Reporting is a genuine strength, letting you slice inventory, sales velocity, and margin almost any way you want.
The rough edges are real.
The learning curve is steeper than lighter tools, the UI shows its age, and getting the most out of the reporting and barcode setup usually takes time with support rather than a self-guided afternoon.
Finale Inventory key features
Finale Inventory pricing
Finale's pricing is custom and quote-based, and the live page is honest about the floor: plans start from $499/month. There are no named public tiers. Instead, your price is built from four variables: number of users, the integrations you connect, monthly order volume, and add-ons.
The largest add-on is the optional Barcode WMS module, which is not in the base figure, so if warehouse scanning is why you are here, budget above $499.
Additional users are bought through your sales rep rather than self-serve, and two more line items can move the total: a setup fee that scales with implementation complexity, and overage charges if you exceed your plan limits.
You can go month-to-month with no long-term commitment or take annual pricing. There is no free plan and no advertised free trial, so you commit to a quote before you test it in production.
Realistically, most operators running the barcode module and a few integrations should plan for a number meaningfully north of $499, closer to four figures once WMS, extra users, and setup are added. Treat $499 as a starting point, not your quote.
| Plan | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Base plan | From $499/month, monthly or annual | Priced by users, integrations and order volume |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Dedicated account manager and premium SLAs |
Finale Inventory pros and cons
What we like
- Best-in-class barcode WMS for the price band, with real scanning workflows for receiving, picking, and cycle counts.
- Deep, customizable reporting on inventory, margin, and sales velocity.
- Strong multichannel sync plus tight QuickBooks and Xero accounting integration.
What could be better
- No free plan, no public trial, and no self-serve pricing, so you commit to a sales call to see your real number.
- The $499/month floor plus the Barcode WMS add-on make it expensive for smaller sellers.
- Dated interface and a steeper learning curve than lighter tools.
Who Finale Inventory is for
Finale is a strong fit for a specific buyer: a growing multichannel brand doing real warehouse work, think several thousand orders a month, staff running pick-pack, and a need for lot or expiration tracking.
If you sell across three or more channels and want barcode scanning that holds up on the floor, this is one of the best tools in its price band, especially if you live in QuickBooks or Xero.
It is overkill for smaller sellers.
If you do a few hundred orders a month from one or two channels and mostly need clean stock counts, the $499 floor is hard to justify. A one-person shop is better served by Zoho Inventory, which has a free tier and paid plans from $29.
Makers and light manufacturers who build products from components will find Katana's production-first model a closer match, and QuickBooks-heavy shops with real manufacturing often prefer Fishbowl. Finale wins when multichannel selling plus a real warehouse is the core of the business.

The bottom line
Finale Inventory earns its place for the buyer it is built for. If you are a growing multichannel brand with a real warehouse, staff scanning barcodes, and a need for lot or expiration tracking, the Barcode WMS module and reporting depth justify the $499-plus monthly spend.
Few tools in this band do warehouse operations as well, and the QuickBooks and Xero integration keeps your books honest.
Where it makes less sense is at the small end. If you run a few hundred orders a month, the floor price and add-ons are hard to defend, and Zoho Inventory delivers most of the value from $29.
Manufacturers should look hard at Katana, QuickBooks-heavy shops at Fishbowl, and buyers wanting published tiers with light manufacturing at Cin7 Core. Finale is not the cheapest or the prettiest, but for warehouse-driven multichannel sellers it is one of the most capable choices available.
