Shippo Review
Shippo's plans, the 30-label free tier, the costs on top of postage, and the rivals that beat it on price.
Shippo is worth it if you need FedEx or DHL Express labels and ship 30 parcels a month or fewer, because the Starter plan is free. Past 30 labels, Pro costs $17 a month or $205 a year billed annually, for up to 10,000 labels a month. If your parcels go only by USPS or UPS, Pirate Ship is free with no monthly fee, no label markup and no minimum volume, so Shippo has to earn its fee on postage and features.
Shippo's strengths are its carrier range (USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express), unlimited store connections, and automations, return labels and packing slips even on Starter. The catches are the 30-label cap on the free plan, branded tracking pages and chat or phone support only from Pro, and postage paid on top of every plan. The closest rivals are Pirate Ship, ShipStation from $14.99 a month, and EasyPost, which is free for up to 3,000 labels with Wallet carriers.

ShippoShippo sells discounted shipping labels from USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express through one dashboard. For an online store, the question is not whether it prints a label. It is whether the free plan covers your volume and carriers, and what the paid plan adds.

Toolradar data: Shippo ranks fourth among the 43 shipping and fulfillment tools Toolradar tracks as of October 10, 2026. Toolradar also keeps profiles for Shippo and Pirate Ship for side-by-side reading.
For the head-to-head on price, read our Pirate Ship vs Shippo comparison, which works through the cost per label at 30, 100 and 200 labels.
Methodology: we read the pricing pages of Shippo, Pirate Ship, ShipStation, EasyPost and Sendcloud, checked on October 10, 2026, and quote only what each page prints. Our own arithmetic is labelled as ours. Postage is left out because no vendor publishes a per-parcel rate that matches line by line.
What is Shippo?
Shippo is a multi-carrier shipping platform. It sits between your store and the carriers, rates each parcel, buys the label and gives you the tracking data. Its carrier discounts cover USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express, and the free Starter plan includes the FedEx and DHL Express discounts as well as the USPS and UPS ones.
Shippo is software, not a 3PL. It does not store your inventory or pack your boxes. You still run the packing bench. What you buy is the discounted label, the automation around it, and the return and tracking tools that go with each order.
How Shippo works
Setup starts by connecting your store. Shippo lists unlimited store connections on Starter, so the free tier does not cap how many channels you link. Orders then reach the label screen, where you choose a carrier and service for each parcel and buy the label.
Automations can set rules for common choices, and Starter includes them along with return labels and packing slips.
The daily routine is the same as any label tool: print the label, print the packing slip, and hand the parcel to the carrier. Branded tracking pages, notification emails, and chat or phone support start at Pro. A single-person store can run on Starter, while a team that wants branded customer updates or a person on the phone will need the paid plan.
Shippo key features
Shippo pricing
Shippo publishes three plans on its pricing page. Starter is free for up to 30 labels a month and one user. If you bring your own carrier account, Shippo charges 5 cents per label on Starter.
Pro is $17 a month, or $205 a year billed annually, for up to 10,000 labels a month, with up to five users and no fee on your own carrier accounts. Premier is quote-only, with unlimited labels and 15 or more users.
The subscription is not the whole bill.
Postage is paid on every label, and the page lists optional insurance and optional global address validation as extra costs. US address validation is included on every plan, while non-US validation is 9 cents per lookup on Starter, 8 cents on Pro and 6 cents on Premier.
Pro also lists an overage of $0.08 per label beyond 10,000 labels a month. Our arithmetic, not the vendor's: at 100 labels a month, Pro's fee works out to 17 cents a label before postage.
On the same parcel, Shippo's postage has to come in at least that much lower than a free tool's to draw even, and the head-to-head works through that gap.

Who Shippo is for
Shippo fits an early store that ships a few parcels a week and needs FedEx or DHL Express. Starter covers up to 30 labels a month for free, including discounted FedEx and DHL Express, unlimited store connections and return labels.
Stay under the cap and the only required cost is postage.
Shippo fits a growing store past 30 labels only if Pro's features are worth the monthly fee, since the Starter cap forces the upgrade. At that point Pro's fee is a cost that Pirate Ship does not charge.
Pro earns its fee through branded tracking pages, chat and phone support and a 10,000-label range, so count those as real needs before you pay.
Skip Shippo if your parcels go only by USPS or UPS. Pirate Ship charges no monthly fee and no label markup on those carriers at any volume, so Pro's fee has to be paid back by cheaper postage.
Operators who want a 3PL to store and ship for them need a different model, which Shippo does not offer. The ShipStation alternatives page lists other options.
Best Shippo alternatives
If Shippo is not the right fit, these are the closest options.

The bottom line
Shippo is worth paying for when you need its carriers and support, not for the subscription alone. The Starter plan gives a small store discounted FedEx and DHL Express labels, unlimited store connections and automations at no monthly fee, as long as you ship 30 labels or fewer.
Past that, Pro's branded tracking, chat and phone support and 10,000-label range are the reasons to pay, and you should weigh them against a free USPS and UPS tool.
Buy Shippo for express carriers at low volume, or for Pro's support once you have a team. If your parcels go only by USPS or UPS, start with Pirate Ship.
If you run a multichannel queue, ShipStation is the step up, with a trial but a monthly fee from the start. For a developer building shipping into an app, EasyPost is the API choice.
The ShipStation alternatives page covers the wider field.
