Shippo Pricing 2026: Starter, Pro and Per-Label Fees
Shippo is free for 30 labels a month in 2026, then Pro is priced by volume band, up to $199/mo at 10,000 labels. Every band, extra fee and cost per label.

Shippo costs $0 on Starter for up to 30 labels a month, then Pro starts at $19/mo billed monthly or $205 a year billed yearly for up to 200 labels. Pro is priced in six volume bands that climb to $199/mo for 5,001 to 10,000 labels, with $0.08 per label beyond that, and Premier is quote-only. Postage comes on top of every plan. Prices verified October 18, 2026.
Every Shippo figure here was read on Shippo's app pricing page, its API pricing page and its insurance page on 18 October 2026, and the rival figures on ShipStation's pricing page and Pirate Ship's site the same day. Our view: the "$17/mo" most sellers remember is the yearly rate for the smallest Pro band, so a store shipping a few hundred parcels a month pays more than the headline suggests, though still less than ShipStation at every volume we priced.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 46 shipping and fulfillment tools as of October 17, 2026, and among the 7 of its top 10 that publish a paid price, the median cheapest paid plan is $19 a month. Shippo's entry Pro band, billed monthly, sits exactly on that median; its Toolradar profile has the category position.
Shippo plans at a glance
| Plan | Price | Labels per month | User logins | Own carrier accounts | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Up to 30 | 1 | 5¢ per label | |
| Pro | Priced by volume band, from $205 a year | Up to 10,000, then $0.08 per label | 5 on the entry band, more on larger bands | Free | Chat and phone |
| Premier | Contact sales | Unlimited | 15 or more | Free | Dedicated account manager |
Every plan includes Shippo's discounted USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express rates, unlimited store connections, international shipping, automations, return labels, shipment tracking, US address validation, and reporting. That is a generous free tier: a store on Starter can print a DHL Express label from a Shopify order without paying a subscription.
What Pro adds is mostly about running a packing bench and looking like a brand. Pick lists with scan-to-print, branded tracking pages, notification emails and packing slips, AI-estimated delivery dates and chat and phone support all start on Pro. Premier adds a dedicated account manager and unlimited shipments. Our Shippo review weighs the product itself; this page covers the bill.
How much does Shippo Pro cost at each volume?
Shippo Pro is not one price. The pricing page shows a band selector, and each band carries its own monthly and yearly price and its own number of user logins. Yearly billing is advertised as a 10% saving.
| Labels per month | Billed monthly | Billed yearly (per year) | Yearly, per month | User logins |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 200 | $19 | $205 | $17 | 5 |
| 201 to 500 | $29 | $313 | $26 | 7 |
| 501 to 1,000 | $54 | $583 | $49 | 10 |
| 1,001 to 2,500 | $79 | $853 | $71 | 15 |
| 2,501 to 5,000 | $139 | $1,501 | $125 | 300 |
| 5,001 to 10,000 | $199 | $2,149 | $179 | 300 |
Source: Shippo pricing, band selector, read 18 October 2026. Labels above 10,000 a month are billed per label, at the overage rate in the plans table.
Two things in that table change how you budget. First, the fee per label falls fast with volume: by our arithmetic, the entry band works out to 9.5 cents a label at a full 200 labels on monthly billing, while the top band works out to about 2 cents at 10,000. Second, the band edges matter. A store at 200 labels pays $10 a month less than one at 201, and the step from 1,000 to 1,001 labels adds $25 a month on monthly billing.
Plan changes follow fixed rules on Shippo's FAQ. An upgrade is not billed at the higher price until the next billing cycle, and a downgrade takes effect at the end of the cycle, so you keep the larger plan's features until then. That makes it cheap to move up a band for a holiday peak and back down in January. Shippo does not publish what happens when a month runs past your band below 10,000 labels, so ask before peak season rather than finding out on the invoice.
Monthly or yearly? Set twelve monthly payments against the yearly price and the discount is worth $23 a year on the entry band and $239 on the top band. That is small money next to the flexibility: a store with seasonal volume should stay monthly so it can change bands, and yearly billing pays only when volume holds steady all year.
What Shippo really costs per label
The scenario: a US store printing labels in Shippo's app and paying the subscription monthly, compared with ShipStation's cheapest tier that covers the same volume and with Pirate Ship. Postage is excluded because it depends on each parcel's weight, size and zone. The totals are our arithmetic on published prices, not a quote from any of the three.
| Labels per month | Shippo plan and band | Shippo fee | Fee per label | ShipStation, cheapest tier at that volume | Pirate Ship |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30 | Starter | Free | 0¢ | $14.99 (Starter, 50 shipments) | Free |
| 100 | Pro, 1 to 200 | $19 | 19¢ | $29.99 (Starter, 100) | Free |
| 500 | Pro, 201 to 500 | $29 | 5.8¢ | $39.99 (Starter, 500) | Free |
| 1,000 | Pro, 501 to 1,000 | $54 | 5.4¢ | $79.99 (Starter, 1,000) | Free |
| 5,000 | Pro, 2,501 to 5,000 | $139 | 2.8¢ | $174.99 (Starter, 5,000) | Free |
| 12,000 | Pro, top band plus overage | $359 | 3.0¢ | $649.99 (Standard, 15,000) | Free |
The 12,000-label row is the one most sellers miss. The top band covers 10,000 labels, and the 2,000 extra labels add $160 at the overage rate, close to doubling the bill. The per-label fee rises again, from about 2 cents to about 3 cents, which is the point where a Premier quote is worth requesting.
Postage decides the winner, not the subscription. At 1,000 labels a month, a postage gap of 5.4 cents a label is enough to cancel Shippo's whole Pro fee. Pirate Ship has no monthly fee and says it is paid by the carriers, but it sells only USPS and UPS labels. If your orders go by FedEx or DHL Express, the free option is off the table and Shippo's band price becomes the cost of having those carriers in one queue.
ShipStation costs more than Shippo at every volume in the table, though its Starter tier includes 3 users against Shippo's 1 on Starter, and its tiers come with a 30-day free trial. Our ShipStation vs Shippo page compares the two products end to end, and the ShipStation review covers what its higher fee buys.
Fees outside the subscription
Shippo's FAQ says the bill is postage, the subscription fee if you have one, plus optional insurance and an optional global address validation fee per lookup. In practice there are six lines to budget:
- Postage. Paid on every label, on every plan, at Shippo's discounted carrier rates or the rates on your own carrier account.
- Your own carrier account on Starter. Connecting a UPS or FedEx account you already hold costs 5 cents a label on Starter and nothing on Pro or Premier. At the 30-label cap that is $1.50 a month.
- Overage on Pro. A per-label charge above 10,000 labels a month, as priced in the 12,000-label row above.
- Non-US address validation. 9 cents per validation on Starter, 8 cents on Pro and 6 cents on Premier; US validation is included. A store validating 200 international addresses a month on Pro pays $16 for it.
- Insurance. Shippo Total Protection, provided through XCover, starts at 1.25% of the order's value on the insurance page, so about $1 on an $80 order. The API page lists 1.25% of declared value plus shipping cost for US parcels and 1.5% for international ones. Food, pharmaceuticals, precious stones, lithium batteries and several other categories are excluded.
- API calls outside labels. Tracking, rating and address validation calls not tied to a Shippo label, and the Estimate API, are billed at API Starter rates: 2 cents per track, 1 cent per rate, 3 cents per delivery estimate and 2 cents per US address.
None of these is large on its own. The one that grows quietly is insurance: a store insuring every parcel at an $80 average order and 1,000 orders a month adds about $1,000 a month, far more than any Pro band. Insure by rule (Shippo can add cover automatically above a set order value) rather than on every label.
Shippo API pricing for developers
The API is priced separately from the app. API Starter is free with 30 labels a month included, then 7 cents per label with no setup fee; API Premier is custom, with volume discounts, Shippo Intelligence and a dedicated account manager. The API page also lists batch labels of up to 10,000 shipments in one request.
For a store that does not need to build shipping into its own system, the app is cheaper. By our arithmetic, 1,000 labels a month cost $67.90 on API Starter (970 billable labels at 7 cents) against $54 on the matching Pro band. The API makes sense for a marketplace, a 3PL or a brand with its own order system, where the integration is the point.
Is there a free Shippo plan?
Yes. Starter is free for up to 30 labels a month, with one user login and email support, and it keeps the FedEx and DHL Express rates that free rivals lack. For a hobby shop or an Etsy seller shipping a parcel a day, Starter can cost nothing at all. Our Etsy seller fees and eBay seller fees guides show how shipping sits next to marketplace fees for those sellers.
Past 30 labels, the choice is a paid Pro band or a different tool. Pirate Ship stays free at any volume for USPS and UPS. Our Pirate Ship vs Shippo comparison works through that trade, the Pirate Ship review covers the free tool on its own, and free shipping software lists the other no-fee options. Toolradar keeps profiles for Pirate Ship and ShipStation as well.
Which Shippo plan should I choose?
- Stay on Starter if you ship 30 labels a month or fewer and one person packs. Use Shippo's carrier rates rather than your own account, or pay 5 cents a label for the privilege.
- Take the entry Pro band if you ship up to 200 labels and want branded tracking or phone support. Pay yearly only if your volume is stable through the year.
- Price your exact band between 201 and 10,000 labels using the table above, and check how close you sit to a band edge before peak season.
- Ask for a Premier quote past 10,000 labels a month, where the overage starts to cost more than the band itself, or when you need more than a handful of user logins on a small band.
- Look at Pirate Ship first if every parcel goes by USPS or UPS, and at the wider field in best shipping software or ShipStation alternatives if you need multichannel order management. Etsy-heavy shops can start with shipping software for Etsy sellers, and the cheapest shipping label printers page prices the hardware side.
How we built this page
We read Shippo's app pricing page, including every band in its Pro selector, its API pricing page and its insurance page on 18 October 2026, along with ShipStation's pricing page and Pirate Ship's site the same day. The per-label fees and scenario totals are our arithmetic on those published prices, with postage excluded, and are not a vendor quote. We did not run a Shippo account for this page. The Toolradar figures come from its shipping and fulfillment ranking dated October 17, 2026. We re-check the page when Shippo changes a band, a fee or a plan. Louis Corneloup, who founded Toolradar and Dupple, edited it.

Is Shippo cheaper than ShipStation?
On subscription price, yes, at every volume we priced. At 1,000 labels a month, Shippo Pro costs $54 billed monthly and ShipStation's cheapest tier at that volume costs $79.99. ShipStation's Starter includes 3 users and a 30-day trial, so compare features and postage before you switch.
