Faire Fees 2026: Commission, First-Order Fee and Payouts

Faire charges North American brands 15% commission on orders from retailers it finds through its marketplace, plus a one-time $10 new customer fee on a new retailer's first order, according to Faire's brand help center read on 19 October 2026. Orders from retailers you bring through Faire Direct carry 0% commission. Every order also pays a payment processing fee of 1.9% to 3.5% plus $0.30, depending on how fast you want to be paid.

That makes Faire cheap for your existing accounts and expensive for small first orders from new ones. Joining is free and there is no subscription, so the whole cost sits in each order. On a $100 first order with next-day payout, fees take about 29% of the subtotal; on a mid-size Faire Direct order, about 4%. The rest of this page shows where each fee comes from, five orders worked out line by line, and the levers that move your rate.

Dupple data: across the five orders we work out below, the share Faire keeps ranges from 3.6% to 28.8% of the order subtotal, and the biggest single swing comes from the retailer's origin, Faire Direct or marketplace, not from payout speed. Our arithmetic uses only the rates Faire publishes for North American brands.

Each processing rate adds $0.30 per order. Rates for brands based in North America, read in Faire's help center on 19 October 2026. Faire says this pricing took effect on 5 July 2023; brands outside North America have a separate fee schedule.

How does Faire's commission work?

Commission depends on who found the retailer, not on the product category. When a retailer first discovers you on Faire's marketplace, every order from them pays the standard 15% rate, and the first order adds the new customer fee. Reorders from that retailer stay at 15% without the extra fee.

Faire says that fee covers the cost of bringing the retailer to you: first-time buyer incentives, free returns on a retailer's first order and other marketing. The commission itself pays for the marketplace, order management, retailer verification and Faire's CRM and marketing tools.

Two edge cases help with budgeting: a replacement order keeps the commission rate of the original order, and Faire charges the new customer fee only once, never on replacement or split orders. So a damaged shipment you replace does not trigger a second new customer fee.

What is Faire Direct and how do you get 0%?

Faire Direct is the program that sets commission to 0% for retailers you bring yourself. You send existing or prospective stockists a personalized Faire Direct link, and if their first order with you goes through that link, their orders carry no commission. They still get Faire's retailer benefits, including 60-day payment terms for eligible retailers and free returns on first orders, and retailers new to Faire get a sign-up incentive plus free shipping with you for a year.

For a brand moving an existing wholesale book onto Faire, this is the most important line on the fee sheet. Your established accounts cost only payment processing, while Faire's 15% applies to the new stores it sends you.

If a retailer you already knew ordered through the marketplace instead of your link, you can file a commission change request. Faire reviews documentation of the relationship and can move the order to 0%. Requests are made on the retailer's most recent order, from the Faire website rather than the app, and cannot be edited after you submit them.

One catch: brands in Faire's Insider Partnership may also have to cover shipping on eligible Faire Direct orders, so the 0% is not always the whole story for those brands.

How much does payout speed cost?

Faster payouts cost more, and the gap is 1.6 percentage points on every order. Faire charges the processing fee on the item subtotal plus a flat per-order charge, at 3.5% for next-day payout, 2.4% for 30 days and 1.9% for 60 days. The fee covers card processing and Faire's guarantee of on-time payment while it carries the retailer's net-60 terms, fraud and defaults.

On a $1,000 order, next-day payout costs $35.30 in processing and 60-day payout $19.30, so waiting two months saves $16. Whether that is worth it depends on your cash position: a brand financing inventory on a credit line at a high rate may find next-day payout cheaper than borrowing for 60 days. You choose a speed with your first order and can change it any time in the Payout tab of your account settings; the change applies to orders placed afterward, and support can help adjust unfulfilled orders.

Faire notes that your bank usually makes funds available 1 to 3 business days after Faire sends them.

Five Faire orders, worked out

Faire calculates a payout as the order subtotal plus any shipping reimbursement, minus commission and the processing fee. The table below leaves out shipping reimbursement, which applies only when you ship on your own rather than with Ship with Faire, and assumes no brand-funded promotion.

$100 first marketplace order, next-day payout $15.00 $10.00 $3.80 $28.80 $71.20 28.8%
$300 first marketplace order, next-day payout $45.00 $10.00 $10.80 $65.80 $234.20 21.9%
$300 first marketplace order, 60-day payout $45.00 $10.00 $6.00 $61.00 $239.00 20.3%
$300 marketplace reorder, 30-day payout $45.00 $0 $7.50 $52.50 $247.50 17.5%

Our arithmetic on Faire's published rates for North American brands, October 2026.

The new customer fee hurts small first orders most. On a $100 order it adds 10 points to Faire's share, on the mid-size orders about 3 points. If your wholesale line sells at low price points, a sensible minimum order on Faire protects your margin on new accounts. Pricing matters too: wholesale is usually set at a fraction of retail, so a 15% commission comes out of a margin that is already thinner than on direct sales.

Does Faire charge for advertising?

Only if you opt in to Promoted Listings, Faire's ad product, available in the US, Canada and, in beta, Europe. You set a monthly budget and choose new retailers only or new and returning ones, and Faire places your products in search results and browse pages for retailers it predicts will buy.

Faire uses a pay-per-click model: it charges once per click on a given ad impression, so repeated clicks on the same listing in one session cost you once. It does not publish a per-click price, so the budget you set is your ceiling. Faire Direct retailers are not shown your promoted listings, which keeps the ads from charging you for accounts you already own.

How does Faire compare with retail marketplaces?

Faire is a wholesale marketplace, so its fees sit on top of wholesale prices, not retail. A product that retails at $40 and wholesales at $20 pays Faire's 15% on the $20, about $3, while a retail marketplace such as Etsy or Amazon charges its fees on the full retail sale. That makes direct percentage comparisons misleading: the right test is the margin you keep per unit through each channel.

If you sell both ways, our Etsy seller fees, Amazon seller fees, eBay seller fees, Walmart seller fees and TikTok Shop seller fees guides break down the retail side. The ecommerce statistics page puts the channels in context, and our best Etsy seller tools ranking covers the software many Faire brands also run.

Brands that want their own wholesale storefront alongside Faire usually start from an ecommerce platform. Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 109 ecommerce platforms for its ecommerce platforms ranking as of October 2026, with Shopify as its overall pick and Wix eCommerce as its free pick. See our Shopify pricing guide for that platform's plan costs, and the best inventory management software ranking for keeping Faire and your own store stocked from one count, and the best order management systems for routing wholesale and retail orders together.

How to lower your Faire fees

  1. Route your existing accounts through Faire Direct. Send every current stockist your Faire Direct link before they find you on the marketplace, so their orders carry 0% commission.
  2. File commission change requests when a retailer you already knew ordered through the marketplace, with documentation of the relationship.
  3. Pick the slowest payout you can afford. Moving from next-day to 60-day saves 1.6% of every order subtotal.
  4. Set an order minimum that keeps the new customer fee a small share of first orders.
  5. Cap Promoted Listings with a budget you can measure against first-order revenue.
