Shopify Plus Pricing 2026: Flat Fee, Variable Fee, Extra Stores
Shopify Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 on a 1-year term in 2026. Card rates, extra store fees and the sales level where Plus beats Advanced.

Shopify Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 a month on a 1-year term in the US, per Shopify's Help Center plan page read on 18 October 2026. More complex, higher-volume businesses can instead pay a variable platform fee tied to revenue, which Shopify quotes privately. Online card processing through Shopify Payments starts at 2.25% + 30¢.
The platform fee is the number everyone quotes, and for most merchants it is not the deciding one. On a store doing seven figures a month, card fees dwarf the subscription, and the 0.25-point rate cut Plus gets over Advanced is what pays for the upgrade. This page sets out what the fee covers, what it leaves out, and the monthly sales level at which Plus becomes cheaper than staying on Advanced.
Toolradar data: in the October 2026 snapshot on Toolradar, the software directory we run, Shopify Plus is listed as an alternative to 25 other tools, the most of any product in its headless commerce peer group of 24. Toolradar's ecommerce platforms ranking evaluated 108 platforms as of 17 October 2026. Plus is the enterprise tool most often weighed against everything else, so its price is the benchmark rivals are judged on.
How much does Shopify Plus cost per month?
Shopify sells Plus on a contract, priced as a flat monthly platform fee that depends on the length of the commitment. The table shows the US list prices and what each term adds up to.
| Term | Monthly platform fee | Per year | Over the full term |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3-year term | $2,300 | $27,600 | $82,800 over 3 years |
| 1-year term | $2,500 | $30,000 | $30,000 |
| Variable platform fee | Based on revenue and business model | Quote from sales | Quote from sales |
Prices were read on the Shopify Plus plan page in Shopify's Help Center and the Shopify Plus pricing page on 18 October 2026, before tax. The Help Center lists the USD price for the United States and for any region whose currency Shopify does not support.
The 3-year term saves $200 a month, or $7,200 across the contract, compared with paying the 1-year rate three years running. The catch is the lock-in: a merchant who signs for three years and outgrows Plus, or shrinks, owes the fee either way. Take the 1-year term if you are still testing whether Plus pays for itself, and move to three years once the numbers below are settled.
What is the Shopify Plus variable platform fee?
The variable fee replaces the flat fee for businesses Shopify considers more complex or higher-volume. Its Plus pricing page says the fee is based on revenue and business model, and the Help Center adds that it differs for B2B and direct-to-consumer companies. Shopify publishes no rate, threshold or formula for it.
In practice, this means two Plus merchants with the same flat-fee quote on paper can pay very different amounts once sales grow. If a sales rep proposes the variable fee, ask for the percentage, the revenue it applies to (online only, or POS and B2B too), any floor or cap, and how the fee changes when you add stores. Then run it against the flat fee at your forecast revenue, not today's.
What does the Shopify Plus fee include?
The fee covers more than one store. The Help Center lists these inclusions for Plus:
- One main store plus 9 expansion stores, with unlimited staging stores that do not count toward the limit
- Unlimited staff accounts and custom user groups, against 15 staff accounts on Advanced
- Up to 25 headless storefronts and up to 100 themes
- The first 20 POS Pro locations, with up to 200 locations in total (our Lightspeed vs Shopify POS comparison covers the in-store side)
- B2B tools, including unlimited catalogs, deposits and partial payments
- Shopify Functions, Launchpad and a 99.99% uptime SLA
For a brand that sells in several countries, the bundled expansion stores are the main value. Each can carry its own currency, language and content, and none adds to the platform fee until you pass ten.
What do extra stores and brands cost on Shopify Plus?
Past the tenth store, Shopify charges $300 a month per additional store, or a revenue share across all stores, per its Plus pricing page. A merchant running 14 regional storefronts pays four extra fees, or $1,200 a month on top of the platform fee.
The bigger trap is the brand rule. One Plus contract covers one brand, and a company with several brands needs a separate Plus contract for each, according to the same page. A group with two brands on the 3-year term is paying two platform fees, not one, even if both brands share a warehouse and a team.
Apps and themes multiply too. The Help Center states that apps are billed per store rather than for the whole organization, and that each store needs its own theme license, which matters if you buy premium themes from our best Shopify themes list. A paid app installed on five expansion stores becomes five subscriptions unless the vendor offers an organization deal, so price the app stack per store before you launch new regions.
What card rates does Shopify Plus charge?
Shopify Plus merchants in the US pay 2.25% + 30¢ on online card sales and 2.3% + 10¢ in person through Shopify Payments, per Shopify's US pricing page. A merchant using a third-party payment provider instead pays Shopify a 0.2% fee on top of that provider's own charges.
Those rates are lower than Advanced's 2.5% + 30¢ online and 0.6% third-party fee, read on the Shopify pricing page the same day. The 30¢ per order is identical on both plans, so the only processing difference is the percentage. That 0.25-point gap is the whole financial case for Plus on card processing, and our Shopify fees explained guide covers how every Shopify fee stacks up.
When is Shopify Plus cheaper than Advanced?
On a 3-year term, Plus becomes cheaper than Advanced at about $800,400 a month in online card sales through Shopify Payments. Below that, Advanced at $299 a month billed yearly costs less once card fees are counted. The table is our arithmetic on Shopify's list rates, counting only the subscription and the percentage part of card fees.
| Monthly online card sales | Advanced (yearly billing) | Plus (3-year term) | Cheaper plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| $250,000 | $6,549 | $7,925 | Advanced by $1,376 |
| $500,000 | $12,799 | $13,550 | Advanced by $751 |
| $1,000,000 | $25,299 | $24,800 | Plus by $499 |
| $2,000,000 | $50,299 | $47,300 | Plus by $2,999 |
On the 1-year term the break-even rises to about $880,400 a month, because the fee gap is $200 wider. A store that keeps its own payment processor reaches break-even sooner: the third-party fee drops from 0.6% to 0.2%, so Plus pays for itself at about $500,250 a month routed through that provider.
Our reading: a store under $500,000 a month should move to Plus only for a feature it cannot get on Advanced, such as B2B catalogs, checkout customization, more than 15 staff accounts or multiple regional stores. Those are real reasons to pay, but they are operational choices, not savings. Our Shopify pricing guide lays out the lower plans at smaller sales levels.
How does Shopify Plus compare with BigCommerce?
BigCommerce's enterprise tier is cheaper to enter. Its Performance plan starts at $1,499 a month billed annually, aimed at stores past $1 million in annual sales, and BigCommerce charges no extra fee on orders through its embedded payment providers, per its pricing page read on 18 October 2026. Performance pricing is custom above that starting point, so a large merchant gets a quote either way.
The comparison that matters is total cost at your volume, not the sticker. Plus folds a cheaper Shopify Payments rate and nine extra stores into its fee, while BigCommerce lets you keep a wider range of processors without a platform fee on top. Our BigCommerce pricing breakdown and the Shopify vs BigCommerce comparison cover both bills at lower tiers, the Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison covers the self-hosted route, and BigCommerce's Toolradar profile lists its alternatives.
Hidden costs and gotchas
- Contract lock-in. Both flat-fee prices assume a 1-year or 3-year commitment, so the fee is owed for the full term.
- Variable fee with no published rate. High-volume and complex businesses may be quoted a revenue-based fee instead of the flat one.
- One brand per contract. Each additional brand needs its own Plus contract and its own platform fee.
- Per-store apps and themes. Apps bill per store and each store needs its own theme license.
- Custom development. Shopify's Plus FAQ says it charges nothing to migrate, but advises budgeting for a Shopify Plus Partner if you need custom work. That agency cost is not on any price list.
For most stores the cheaper route is staying on a lower plan; our cheaper Shopify alternatives page and the Shopify review cover that decision, and the best Shopify apps guide helps size the per-store app bill.
How we priced this
We read the Shopify Plus plan page and the expansion stores page in Shopify's Help Center, the Shopify Plus pricing page and the Shopify pricing page on 18 October 2026, and BigCommerce's pricing page the same day. Every total is our arithmetic on list rates before tax, card fees count the percentage only, and no figure is a negotiated quote. Retailpresso holds no Shopify contract and runs no test stores.
FAQ
How much does Shopify Plus cost in 2026?
Shopify Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 a month on a 1-year term in the US, per Shopify's Help Center read on 18 October 2026. Higher-volume or complex businesses may instead pay a variable platform fee based on revenue, which Shopify quotes through sales.
Does Shopify Plus charge transaction fees?
Not when you use Shopify Payments, where you pay card rates from 2.25% + 30¢ online instead. If you use a third-party payment provider, Shopify adds a 0.2% fee on top of that provider's charges, which is the lowest third-party fee of any Shopify plan.
How many stores do you get with Shopify Plus?
One main store and 9 expansion stores are included in the platform fee, plus unlimited staging stores. Each store beyond ten costs an extra $300 a month or a revenue share, and a separate brand needs its own Plus contract.
Is Shopify Plus worth it over Advanced?
On card fees alone, Plus beats Advanced once online card sales through Shopify Payments pass about $800,400 a month on a 3-year term. Below that, Plus is worth it only for features Advanced lacks, such as B2B catalogs, unlimited staff accounts or bundled regional stores.
Can you pay Shopify Plus monthly?
The fee is charged monthly, but Shopify prices Plus on a 1-year or 3-year term, so you commit to the full contract. A merchant that wants to pay month to month with no term should stay on Advanced, which bills either monthly or yearly.
Is Shopify Plus cheaper than BigCommerce Enterprise?
On entry price, no. BigCommerce's Performance plan starts at $1,499 a month billed annually, against $2,300 for Plus on its longest term. At high volume the answer turns on card rates and processor choice, so compare quotes at your forecast sales.
