TL;DR

Loox is worth it for a Shopify store under 300 orders a month that sells on photos and will pay $49.99 a month for Convert; above that, the usage blocks make Judge.me or Junip cheaper for the same job. The Beginner plan is free up to 500 lifetime orders and 2,000 review request emails a month. Convert includes 300 monthly orders and adds a usage block for every further 300, so a 500-order store pays $99.99 and a 1,500-order store $249.99. Unlimited, at $299.99, is the better deal from 1,800 orders a month. Prices verified on Loox's pricing page and Shopify App Store listing in October 2026.

Loox is the review app that made photo reviews a Shopify default, and its free plan is why so many stores start on it. The question for 2026 is not whether the widgets look good. It is what the Convert plan costs once orders grow, because Loox bills usage in blocks and the first oversized invoice is the complaint that follows the app everywhere.

This review is for a Shopify merchant deciding between Loox and the other review apps at a known order volume.

Methodology: it reads the plans, quotas and billing rules on Loox's own pricing page, its Shopify App Store listing and its help center, and each rival's own App Store listing, all checked in October 2026. The bills below are our arithmetic on those published rules at 500 and 1,500 orders a month. It is a read of the published terms, not a hands-on test.

Toolradar data: 13 of the 34 reviews and UGC tools ranked by Toolradar, the software directory we run, have a free plan as of October 2026, and Loox is one of them. A free tier is therefore table stakes in this category, and the decision is made on what the paid plans charge at your volume.

What is Loox?

Loox is a Shopify app that collects product reviews with photos and videos, shows them in widgets on product pages, and runs a referral program on the same install.

Its pricing page lists three plans, Beginner, Convert and Unlimited, and a feature grid of more than 60 line items across collection, display, referrals, integrations, import, branding, multilingual support, API and security.

The collection side sends review request emails after delivery, offers a discount code for photo reviews, and supports QR codes and review links for in-person or packaging asks.

The display side covers a carousel, popup, sidebar, star rating and snippets widgets, a trust badge and SEO rich snippets, with AI review summaries, review highlights and smart visual sorting on the paid plans. Referrals run on-site, post-purchase and post-review, with fraud protection.

For the wider field, start with our best customer review platforms ranking.

Our Judge.me review and Yotpo review cover the two rivals most stores shortlist against Loox, and best free Shopify apps places the Beginner plan among the other $0 tools.

How Loox works

Setup is the no-code route Shopify merchants expect. You install from the App Store, the 14-day trial on paid plans starts, and widgets are added to the theme without editing code. Reviews can be imported from other apps or a spreadsheet, and the Beginner plan allows 20 AliExpress scanned reviews, which matters to dropshippers seeding a new store.

Daily use is the email flow. Loox sends review requests on a delivery-based schedule, follows up with reminder emails, and pays the photo discount automatically.

Beginner caps this at 2,000 review request emails a month; when a store passes the cap, Loox pauses and queues the emails until the billing cycle resets, and any email still queued 30 days after its scheduled time is marked missed and never sent. A fast-growing store on the free plan can lose requests without noticing.

Billing runs through Shopify's 30-day app billing, so Loox appears as an app charge on the Shopify invoice. The rough edge is the Convert plan's usage fee: every extra block of 300 orders is added automatically at the block price, and because Loox's cycle rarely lines up with Shopify's, one block can be split across two invoices.

That is the mechanism behind the surprise-bill complaints, not a hidden fee. Merchants who downgrade get an automatic credit for unused days, and uninstalling stops future charges while leaving already-created charges to process.

Loox key features

Photo and video reviews with a discount incentiveEssential
Loox asks for a photo in the review request email and rewards it with a discount code on every plan, which is why its widgets fill with customer images. Video reviews, product grouping and bundle reviews arrive on Convert, so a store selling kits needs the paid plan.
Beginner plan: free up to 500 lifetime ordersEssential
The free plan supports 500 total orders counted from the end of the trial, 2,000 review request emails a month and 14 review widgets, with rich snippets included. It is a launch plan, not a permanent tier: at order 501 Loox withdraws it and recommends an upgrade.
Convert plan billed in 300-order blocksEssential
Convert includes 300 monthly orders for $49.99, and each further 300 orders adds a $50 usage fee automatically. Email quota is unlimited on Convert. A 500-order month costs $99.99 and a 1,200-order month $199.99, so the bill scales with sales rather than with reviews collected.
Referrals on the same install
On-site, post-purchase and post-review referral prompts with fraud protection run from Convert upward, and Unlimited removes the referral cap. A store that would otherwise pay for a separate referral app can count that saving against the Convert price.
AI display tools on paid plans
Smart visual sorting, review highlights, AI review stories, AI review summaries, auto-translated reviews and AI review replies sit on Convert and Unlimited. Beginner shows reviews in the widgets but without the sorting and summary layer that the paid plans use to push photo reviews to the top.
Syndication and integrations
Google Shopping and Meta Shops syndication, Klaviyo and Omnisend triggers and review requests, PushOwl, Aftership, Weglot, loyalty apps and Shopify Flow are on the grid, with API access and webhooks on the top plans. The Shopify listing adds TikTok and Shop app syndication.

Loox pricing

Loox lists three plans on its pricing page and its Shopify App Store listing, all billed in USD through Shopify every 30 days, with no annual plan and no contract. Beginner is free on the App Store listing and in Loox's help center, with 500 total orders and 2,000 review request emails a month; Loox's own pricing page also displays a $14.99 a month version of Beginner with a free trial, so check which offer your store is shown. Convert is $49.99 a month for 300 monthly orders plus a usage fee per additional 300, and Unlimited is $299.99 a month with no usage quotas. Paid plans carry a 14-day free trial. Sources: Loox pricing, Loox on the Shopify App Store and Loox's monthly quota article, checked in October 2026.

The scenario is a Shopify store at 500 orders a month that wants review requests on every order. On Convert that store uses the included 300 orders plus one extra block, so the bill is $99.99 a month, or about $1,200 a year. At 1,500 orders it uses four extra blocks and pays $249.99 a month, about $3,000 a year. At 1,800 orders Convert reaches $299.99, the Unlimited price, and from there Unlimited is the cheaper plan with no quota to watch. Loox also still bills a Legacy Scale plan for older accounts at $39.99 with cheaper blocks, which new stores cannot choose.

The rivals price the same 500-order store differently. Judge.me's Awesome plan is a flat monthly price with no order cap, Junip's Core plan is $29 a month with unlimited orders, and Okendo's Growth plan is $119 a month for up to 1,500 orders because its Essential plan stops at 200. Yotpo's Shopify listing shows Starter and Pro entry prices with the note that pricing changes by order volume, so a 500-order store should check its exact price on Yotpo's site. Against that field, Loox at 500 orders costs more than six times Judge.me and three times Junip.

Loox pros and cons

What we like

  • Beginner is free for 500 total orders with 2,000 review request emails a month and 14 widgets.
  • Convert bundles video reviews, referrals, AI sorting and summaries, and Google and Meta syndication in the base price at 300 orders.
  • Unlimited removes every quota at $299.99, and paid plans carry a 14-day trial with no contract.

What could be better

  • Every extra 300 orders on Convert adds a usage fee automatically, so a 1,500-order store pays $249.99 a month.
  • Beginner's 2,000-email cap pauses requests, and queued emails older than 30 days are never sent.
  • Shopify only, and no annual plan or discount is offered.

Who Loox is for

Loox fits a Shopify store under 300 orders a month whose products photograph well and whose customers will send pictures for a discount. At that volume Convert costs its headline price, the referral program comes in the same bill, and the AI sorting puts photo reviews first on the product page. A new store can run Beginner through its first 500 orders at no cost and decide then.

It is a weaker fit for a store whose order count outruns its review needs. A 1,500-order store pays $249.99 a month on Convert for roughly the same collection job Junip's Core plan does at $29 and Judge.me's Awesome plan at half that, and only the Unlimited plan removes the meter. Stores with a seasonal peak should model the peak month, because the usage blocks add themselves without a confirmation step.

Skip it if you need text reviews at the lowest price, if your orders are mostly low-value and high-volume, or if you sell outside Shopify, since Loox is a Shopify-only app. Stores that want reviews and loyalty in one app should look at Okendo, and our best loyalty program software ranking covers the standalone options.

The bottom line

Loox is worth it for a photo-led Shopify store under 300 orders a month, and the Beginner plan is worth installing on any new store for its first 500 orders. Pay for Convert when you want video reviews, referrals and AI sorting on one bill, and watch the order count: at 500 orders the plan costs $99.99, at 1,500 it costs $249.99, and from 1,800 orders Unlimited is cheaper. If the job is review requests at volume and the photos are a bonus, Judge.me or Junip does it for a fraction of the price.

Before you commit, set the trial on your own store, send a month of requests and read the first invoice line by line. For the field, see best customer review platforms and best Shopify apps. Frequently asked questions

Is Loox worth it in 2026?

Yes for a Shopify store under 300 orders a month that sells on customer photos, because Convert's base price covers video reviews, referrals, AI sorting and Google and Meta syndication in one app. Above that volume the usage blocks make Judge.me or Junip the better value for review requests alone.

How much does Loox cost?

Beginner is free up to 500 total orders, Convert is $49.99 a month for 300 monthly orders plus $50 for each additional 300, and Unlimited is $299.99 a month with no quotas. All plans bill in USD through Shopify every 30 days with no annual option, as read on Loox's pricing page and App Store listing in October 2026.

Why is my Loox bill higher than the Convert price?

Convert adds a usage fee automatically for every 300 orders beyond the 300 included, so a 700-order month costs $149.99. Loox's billing cycle rarely matches Shopify's, so one block can appear across two Shopify invoices, which makes the charge look larger than it is. Check the app charges section of the invoice against your order count.

Does Loox have a free plan?

Yes. The Beginner plan is free on the Shopify App Store listing and in Loox's help center, with 500 total orders counted from the end of the trial, 2,000 review request emails a month and 14 widgets. Loox's own pricing page also shows a $14.99 version of Beginner, so confirm which offer applies to your store. After 500 orders the plan is withdrawn.

What is the cheapest alternative to Loox?

For review requests at any volume, Judge.me's Awesome plan with no order cap, or Junip's free plan, which sends unlimited request emails on unlimited orders. For reviews with loyalty, Okendo's Essential plan is $19 up to 200 orders a month. Yotpo matches that entry price but its price rises with order volume.
