Flatpay Pricing 2026: UK Card Fees, POS Bundles and the Turnover Minimum
Flatpay's UK card rates, POS bundle prices, hardware fees and the £1,100 turnover minimum, with worked monthly costs for three kinds of shop.
Flatpay's UK payment terminal costs 1.49% per card transaction with £0 to start for businesses under £200,000 a year in card turnover, while its POS plans charge 1.69% and an upfront bundle of £1,995 or £2,495. Flatpay sells in the UK and several EU countries, not in the US, so every price here is in pounds as Flatpay lists it, read on November 5, 2026. The fee that surprises people is a £39 charge in any month where a shop takes under £1,100.
A shop taking £8,000 a month pays about £119 in card fees on the terminal and about £135 on a POS plan. Whether the POS bundle earns its cost depends on whether you need the tablet, printer and cash drawer in it.
Toolradar data: Our directory evaluated 195 payment processing tools in its ranking updated November 3, 2026. Flatpay is not among the ten tools that ranking lists, so the effective rates below are our own calculation from Flatpay's published figures, not a Toolradar score.
Flatpay UK prices at a glance
| Flatpay product | Card rate (under £200,000 a year) | Upfront cost | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment terminal | 1.49% on all cards | £0 | PAX A920 Pro handheld terminal with software |
| mPOS | 1.69% on all cards | £995 onboarding and installation | Handheld device that also runs sales and orders |
| POS Pro | 1.69% on all cards | £1,995 bundle | Tablet, terminal, printer and cash drawer |
| POS Premium | 1.69% on all cards | £2,495 bundle | 15.6 inch touch-screen POS with built-in printer, terminal and drawer |
These figures come from Flatpay's UK pricing page and its mPOS and POS system pages, read November 5, 2026. Flatpay's price list says all prices exclude VAT, so add VAT to every pound figure in the tables.
Above £200,000 in annual card turnover, Flatpay says it builds a custom rate for some businesses, so the published figures stop there. A shop near that line should ask for the quote in writing before comparing anything.
The 1.49% terminal rate is the lowest published figure, and the monthly fee is nil on every plan. The cost sits in the upfront bundle and in the contract, which the next sections cover.
What do you pay on top of the card rate?
Flatpay's price list adds a short set of fixed charges that never appear next to the headline rate. Each one matters for a different kind of shop, so read them against your own sales pattern.
| Flatpay charge | Price | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal replacement | £410 | A lost or broken terminal |
| Tablet | £495 | Bought on its own, outside a bundle |
| Printer | £495 | Bought on its own, outside a bundle |
| Cash drawer | £200 | Bought on its own, outside a bundle |
| Unfulfilled monthly turnover | £39 | A month below £1,100 in turnover |
| Re-onboarding after a registration change | £25 | You change your business registration |
The prices come from Flatpay's price list, read November 5, 2026. Buying a tablet, a printer and a cash drawer separately would add up to £1,190, which is why the Pro bundle only makes sense if you also need the terminal and the setup work it includes.
The £25 re-onboarding fee is small, but it is easy to trigger. Flatpay ties it to a change in business registration, so a shop that restructures should expect to pay it.
How does the £1,100 turnover minimum work?
Flatpay's price list sets a minimum monthly turnover of £1,100 including VAT, with a £39 fee for a month that falls short. Both the list and the UK terms and conditions say the figure includes VAT while the fee excludes it, so a quiet shop should compare its VAT-inclusive takings with the £1,100.
The two documents describe the check differently. The price list says the minimum is assessed annually, with seasonal customers as its example. The contract clause reads month by month, and it charges £39 for each individual payment solution, so a shop with a terminal and an online payment link can owe it twice.
Ask Flatpay in writing which reading applies before you sign. If the check runs across the year, £1,100 a month works out to £13,200 of card takings, and a seasonal shop that clears that figure should owe nothing. If it runs monthly, a single slow January can cost £39 on top of the card fee.
What does a market stall, a shop and a seasonal shop pay?
Each example below uses the published rates and leaves out VAT, refunds, chargebacks and any custom quote. The percentages are applied to card takings, so each fee is takings multiplied by the rate.
| Scenario | Flatpay product | Monthly card fee | Yearly card fee | Fixed costs | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stall taking £1,500 a month | Terminal | £22.35 | £268.20 | £0 upfront | 1.49% |
| Shop taking £8,000 a month | Terminal | £119.20 | £1,430.40 | £0 upfront | 1.49% |
| Shop taking £8,000 a month | POS Pro | £135.20 | £1,622.40 | £1,995 bundle | 3.77% in year one |
| Seasonal shop with a £600 month | Terminal | £8.94 | One month only | £39 fee | 7.99% that month |
The stall pays £22.35 a month because £1,500 times 1.49% is £22.35, and £268.20 over 12 months. It clears the turnover floor, so that fee does not arise. The stall is also the clearest case for the terminal over mPOS, because mPOS would lift its first-year cost from £268.20 to £1,299.20 on £18,000 of sales (£304.20 in card fees at 1.69% plus £995).
The £8,000 shop pays £119.20 a month on the terminal and £135.20 on a POS plan, a gap of £16 a month or £192 a year in card fees. Add the £1,995 bundle and year one costs £3,617.40 on £96,000 of sales, which is 3.77%. Spread over the 36-month initial period, the same POS Pro shop pays £6,862.20 on £288,000, or 2.38%. The terminal alone costs £4,291.20 over that span, so the bundle only pays off if the tablet, printer and drawer replace equipment you would otherwise buy.
The seasonal shop pays £8.94 in card fees on £600, plus the turnover fee if the monthly reading applies. That is £47.94 on £600, or 7.99% for the month. A shop that earns most of its income in a few weeks should treat the turnover rule as a cost to negotiate, not a footnote.
Is Flatpay really free to start, with no monthly fee?
Yes for the terminal, with a caveat on the rest. Flatpay's pricing page shows £0 to start on the payment terminal, and its pages say there are no subscriptions or monthly fees. That claim holds for the software, since the monthly line on every plan is nil.
The mPOS plan lists £995 of onboarding and installation, and the two POS plans carry the bundles above, so "free to start" describes the terminal only. A shop that wants table management, a printer and a cash drawer should read the bundle price as the real entry cost.
The monthly fee is nil, but the contract is not. Flatpay's UK terms set a 36-month initial period in which the customer cannot terminate. After that, either side can end the agreement with one month's written notice, ending at the close of the following calendar month. For a new shop with an unproven turnover, that commitment matters more than the 0.2 percentage points between the terminal and the POS rate.
How fast do payouts arrive, and who handles them?
Flatpay lists daily payouts as part of every plan, and that is the most useful service to ask about before you commit to cash flow. A shop that pays suppliers weekly can plan around daily money instead of waiting several days.
The UK terms add a detail worth knowing. They say the acquirer, not Flatpay, charges the transaction fee and makes the payouts under a separate agreement with the customer. So the timing and the fee both depend on that acquirer agreement, and you should read it as well as the Flatpay offer.
Late invoices carry their own cost. The terms ask for payment of Flatpay invoices within 8 days, and reopening a disabled service after non-payment requires an administration fee of £100. That only affects a shop paying invoices for the bundle or extras, but a small business with irregular cash should know it.
Which Flatpay product fits which shop?
The terminal fits a stall, a pop-up or a small shop that needs to take cards and nothing more. It carries the lowest rate, no upfront cost and a built-in SIM, so the shop does not depend on its own Wi-Fi. The weakness is the software: its feature list covers sales, refunds, receipts and reports, with no table management.
mPOS suits a seller who wants to ring up products on a handheld device. The £995 onboarding is hard to justify for a stall but fair for a shop that would otherwise buy a separate till. The rate is 0.2 points above the terminal's, so the extra software has to earn about £16 a month at £8,000 of sales.
POS Pro and POS Premium suit a counter with queues, a printer and a cash drawer. The Premium unit adds a 15.6 inch screen with a built-in printer, while Pro uses a tablet and a separate printer. Both include on-site installation and training, which is worth money to a shop that has never run a POS.

Our SumUp pricing, Square POS pricing and Stripe Terminal vs Square pages price in US dollars, so they do not compare directly with Flatpay's UK rates. Shops comparing tills by trade can also read the guides to POS for clothing boutiques and POS for coffee shops, or the pricing pages for Shopify POS, Clover and Lightspeed. Dupple's separate Flatpay review covers the product rather than the cost.
What does Flatpay not include or publish?
Flatpay publishes no GBP rate above £200,000 of annual card turnover, and that is where a bigger shop most needs a figure. A shop that also sells online should ask for that quote separately, since this page covers in-person products only.
The offer is built around an in-person meeting. Flatpay's pricing page describes a walkthrough with a POS expert, a tailored offer and then on-site installation. That helps a first-time buyer, but it means the headline price is a starting point rather than a signed number, and the final offer is the one that counts.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Flatpay cost in the UK in 2026?
The payment terminal charges 1.49% per transaction under £200,000 of annual card turnover, with £0 to start. The mPOS and POS plans charge 1.69%, with £995, £1,995 or £2,495 of onboarding or bundle cost. All prices exclude VAT.
Does Flatpay charge a monthly fee?
Flatpay's pricing pages say there are no monthly fees or subscriptions. The cost comes from the card rate, the upfront bundle and the charge for a month that falls under the turnover minimum. The contract also runs for 36 months.
What is Flatpay's minimum monthly turnover?
The price list sets a floor that includes VAT, with a fee for a month that falls short, assessed per payment solution under the contract. The price list calls the check annual while the terms read monthly, so confirm which one applies to you.
Is Flatpay worth it for a small shop?
It is worth it when your takings sit comfortably above the turnover minimum and you want a low flat rate with no upfront cost. At £8,000 a month the terminal costs about £119 in card fees. It is a poor fit for a shop with very uneven sales or one that may close within three years.
How much does a Flatpay POS bundle cost?
POS Pro and POS Premium cost £1,995 and £2,495, both with a 1.69% card rate under £200,000 a year. Bought separately, a tablet and a printer are £495 each and a cash drawer is £200.
What happens if I want to leave Flatpay?
The UK terms keep you in the agreement for 36 months from accepting the offer. After that, either side can end it with one month's written notice that expires at the end of the next calendar month.
Does Flatpay charge for a replacement terminal?
Yes, its price list shows £410 for a terminal replacement. Ask whether that applies to faults as well as loss or damage before you rely on the terminal in a busy shop.
Does Flatpay publish a rate for turnover above £200,000?
No. It says it creates a custom rate for some businesses above £200,000 in annual card turnover, and the published GBP figures stop at that level. A larger shop should request the offer in writing.
