AfterShip Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives

What AfterShip Tracking, Returns and Shipping cost at real order volumes in October 2026, which features sit behind Premium, and four alternatives.

TL;DR

AfterShip is worth it for a store that wants branded tracking and delivery emails without building them, as long as you can live on Essentials or budget for Premium. Tracking starts free for 50 shipments a month, and paid plans start at $9 a month billed yearly for 1,200 shipments a year. A store shipping 500 orders a month pays $348 a year on Essentials or $708 on Premium, and adding AfterShip Returns at 20 returns a month brings the Essentials bill to $540. The catch is the Premium gate: removing AfterShip branding, a custom domain and the Klaviyo and Gorgias integrations all start there.

AfterShip's entry price is low, but your bill is set by three choices: how many shipments you buy up front, whether you pay yearly, and whether you need the features that only Premium unlocks.

This review prices the tracking product first, because that is where most stores start, then adds Returns and Shipping for a store that wants one vendor after checkout. We model a store shipping 500 orders a month with 20 returns, and show where the bill steps up.

Every AfterShip figure comes from its own pricing pages and its Shopify App Store listing, checked on October 19, 2026.

The bottom of this category is cheap and crowded. Toolradar data: AfterShip's entry paid plan, $11 a month billed monthly, ranks #3 of 12 on price among the shipping and fulfillment tools Toolradar tracks with a comparable verified entry price, against a median of $24.50 a month (October 2026).

If returns are the bigger headache than tracking, our best returns management software ranking puts AfterShip Returns next to Loop and ReturnGO.

What is AfterShip?

AfterShip is a post-purchase platform for online stores. It pulls tracking numbers from your store, follows each parcel across carriers, and shows the status on a tracking page and in emails under your brand.

Its site lists more than 2,000 supported carriers and several products beyond tracking: Returns, Shipping labels, AI estimated delivery dates, Warranty and Order Edits.

Each product is priced on its own, so "AfterShip pricing" really means the sum of the modules you switch on, which is the first thing to settle before you compare it with a single-purpose tracking app.

It connects to Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento 2, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Amazon Seller Central, which matters for a merchant selling on more than one channel. For the Toolradar listing, see its AfterShip profile.

How AfterShip works

Setup starts from your store connection: AfterShip imports orders with their tracking numbers, detects the carrier from the number, and updates each shipment as the carrier scans it. Shoppers check progress on a hosted tracking page, in Apple Wallet or through PayPal package tracking, all of which appear in the free plan's feature list.

On Shopify, paid plans come with a 7-day free trial, and the listing says the first month costs $1.

The free plan stops short of what most stores install AfterShip for. Triggered email and SMS updates start on Essentials, along with carrier auto-correction, multi-language pages, carrier masking and basic reports.

SMS is billed on top of the plan, priced by destination and charged only on messages sent.

Premium is where the tracking page becomes fully yours. It adds custom CSS, a custom domain, removal of AfterShip branding, AI-estimated delivery dates, AI product recommendations with Instant Checkout, Order Edits, and the Tracking API with webhooks at 10 requests a second.

It also holds the pre-built integrations with Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias and Zendesk. If your post-purchase emails run through Klaviyo or your help desk is Gorgias, plan for Premium from the first day.

AfterShip key features

Branded tracking pageEssential
Every plan, including the free one, gets a hosted tracking page with your logo and colors. Premium adds custom CSS, your own subdomain, several branded pages and removal of the AfterShip footer, which is what makes the page read as part of your store.
Shipment notificationsEssential
From Essentials, AfterShip emails or texts the shopper when a sub-status changes or the delivery date moves, and can group split shipments into one digest. Fewer "where is my order" tickets is the main return on the subscription, so this is the feature that justifies paying.
Delivery date estimates
Carrier-sourced delivery dates show on all plans. Premium swaps them for an AI-modeled window calibrated to your own lanes, which is useful if you also show a delivery promise before checkout.
Tracking page upsells
Essentials lets you hand-pick products to show on the tracking page. Premium personalizes them with AI and adds Instant Checkout, so a shopper can buy from the page or email without returning to the store.
Returns and Shipping modules
AfterShip Returns handles refunds, exchanges, store credit and return labels, and AfterShip Shipping buys labels across 100+ carriers. Both are separate subscriptions with their own volume bands, so add them only if they replace a tool you already pay for.

AfterShip pricing

AfterShip prices Tracking by shipment volume on its Tracking pricing page, checked October 19, 2026, and advertises 18 percent off for yearly billing. Billed yearly, Essentials climbs from 1,200 shipments a year to 300,000 at $999 a month, and Premium from 6,000 shipments a year to 300,000 at $1,999.

Monthly billing lets a new store start on a smaller band (100 shipments a month on Essentials, 500 on Premium), but every shipment costs more, so switch to yearly once your volume is predictable. Enterprise is quote-only.

Overage is where a yearly plan earns its keep. Shipments past your quota are billed one by one at the overage rates listed in the pricing table.

In our 500-orders-a-month model, a busy year of 7,000 shipments on the 6,000-shipment Essentials band adds $80, for $428 in total, while moving up to the 12,000-shipment band at $49 a month would cost $588. The lesson for a seasonal store is to buy the band that fits a normal year and let the holiday peak run into overage.

Returns and Shipping are billed on their own pages. AfterShip Returns starts at $16 a month billed yearly for 240 returns a year, with $0.50 per extra return. Its Premium tier starts at $99 a month for 1,200 returns a year, with $1.00 per extra.

AfterShip Shipping starts at the same yearly rate as Tracking Essentials for 1,200 labels a year, and Pro at $69 a month for 24,000. A Team plan for added members costs $10 per member a month billed yearly, or $12 monthly.

The free tracking plan covers 50 shipments a month according to AfterShip's Shopify App Store listing, which also shows Essentials at $108 a year and Premium at $708 a year at the entry bands, billed in USD.

Methodology: we read AfterShip's Tracking, Returns and Shipping pricing pages and its Shopify listing on October 19, 2026, priced a store shipping 500 orders a month with 20 returns a month, and quoted each alternative only from its own pricing page the same day. Features come from vendor pages; Retailpresso runs no test lab.

AfterShip pros and cons

What we like

  • Essentials adds email and SMS updates at each shipment milestone, plus carrier auto-correction and multi-language pages.
  • More than 2,000 carriers, with connectors for Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento 2, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Amazon.
  • Yearly quotas absorb seasonal peaks, and extra shipments are billed per unit instead of forcing an upgrade.

What could be better

  • Branding removal, custom domain, the API and Klaviyo or Gorgias integrations all require Premium.
  • Tracking, Returns and Shipping are billed separately, so the full suite means three subscriptions.
  • The free plan has no shipment notifications and stops at 50 shipments a month.

Who AfterShip is for

AfterShip suits a store shipping a few hundred to a few thousand orders a month that wants branded tracking and delivery emails, and especially one selling on Shopify, BigCommerce and Amazon at once.

It is a weaker fit for a store under 50 orders a month that needs notifications, because the free plan has none, and for a small brand that needs the Klaviyo or Gorgias connection, because both sit in Premium.

Three costs catch buyers out. The first is the Premium gate: removing AfterShip branding and using your own domain roughly doubles the tracking bill at 6,000 shipments a year, from $348 to $708. The second is module stacking, since Tracking and Returns on Premium at our model volume come to $1,896 a year before any Shipping plan. The third is SMS, which is billed per message by destination on top of the plan.

If buying labels is the bigger job, start with our Shippo review and ShipStation review, or the head-to-head in ShipStation vs Shippo.

Shippo's Pro plan already includes branded tracking pages and notification emails, which can make a separate tracking app unnecessary.

The bottom line

AfterShip is worth it when branded tracking and delivery emails will cut your support tickets, and Essentials covers what you need. At 500 orders a month that is $348 a year billed yearly, and per-shipment overage keeps a busy season cheaper than buying the next band.

The bill climbs fast past that point: Premium for the custom domain and Klaviyo or Gorgias connection costs $708 a year at the same volume, and Returns is a second subscription on top.

Choose AfterShip if you sell on several platforms or need its carrier coverage. Pick ParcelPanel if you are on Shopify and price per order matters most, Loop if exchanges drive your margin, and Narvar only at enterprise volume.

If your shipping app already sends tracking emails, check whether you need a separate tracker at all; our best shipping software guide and the Easyship review cover that route, and the best Shopify apps guide shows where tracking fits in a full app stack.

Brands outsourcing fulfillment should also read the best 3PLs for small business, since many include tracking pages.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AfterShip cost in 2026?

AfterShip Tracking is free for 50 shipments a month. Billed yearly, Essentials starts at $9 a month for 1,200 shipments a year and Premium at $59 a month for 6,000. Billed monthly, Essentials starts at $11 for 100 shipments a month and Premium at $70 for 500. Enterprise is custom, and Returns and Shipping are priced separately.

Is there a free AfterShip plan?

Yes. The free Tracking plan covers 50 shipments a month with a branded tracking page, carrier delivery dates, automatic carrier detection and Apple Wallet tracking. It does not send triggered shipment emails or texts; those start on Essentials. Paid plans on Shopify carry a 7-day free trial.

What happens if I go over my AfterShip shipment quota?

AfterShip charges $0.08 per extra shipment on Essentials and $0.12 on Premium, and Enterprise terms are negotiated. Because yearly plans count shipments over the year, a store expecting a seasonal spike can buy a smaller band and pay overage, which in our 7,000-shipment example costs less than the next band up.

Is AfterShip Premium worth it over Essentials?

Only if you need what Premium holds: removal of AfterShip branding, a custom domain, custom CSS, AI delivery estimates, Order Edits, the API and webhooks, or the Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias and Zendesk integrations. At 6,000 shipments a year it costs $708 against $348 for Essentials billed yearly.

Is AfterShip or ParcelPanel cheaper?

ParcelPanel is usually cheaper per order. Its Professional plan covers 2,000 orders a month for $59 billed monthly, while AfterShip Premium on monthly billing starts at $70 for 500 shipments. AfterShip lists more carriers and platform connectors, so the cheaper app is not always the better fit.
