Gelato Pricing 2026: Free, Gelato+ and Platinum Plans
Gelato is free in 2026; Gelato+ is $29.99/mo or $19.99/mo billed yearly ($239.88). What the 33% discount, store caps and trial really mean.

Gelato is free to use in 2026, and you pay only for the products you order. Gelato+ costs $29.99/mo on monthly billing, or $19.99/mo billed yearly at $239.88, and adds product discounts of up to 33%. Platinum, for high-volume sellers, has custom pricing. Gelato+ only pays off once your monthly product spend is large enough for the discount to cover the fee.
For most print-on-demand stores, that is the whole decision: the subscription is a bet that your discount will be worth more than the fee, and the AI tools and premium mockups are the extras on top. A store spending a few dollars a month on fulfillment should stay free; a store reordering steadily should do the math below.
Prices were read on 19 October 2026 on Gelato's subscription plans page and in its help article on what Gelato+ costs. The verdict on print quality, shipping and the product range is in our Gelato review. Disclosure: the Gelato link in this paragraph is an affiliate link, and a signup through it may earn Dupple a commission; it does not change any price or calculation on this page.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 11 print-on-demand tools as of 19 October 2026, and 5 of them (45%) offer a free tier, per its print-on-demand statistics. The category ranking is the print-on-demand list. A free plan is therefore not a given in this category, and Gelato is one of the platforms where you can sell without a subscription at all.

Source: Gelato subscription plans and the Gelato+ fee table, 19 October 2026. Gelato adds applicable local taxes to the Gelato+ price for US customers, so the invoice is higher than the list figure.
The annual plan saves $120 a year, which Gelato states on its plan page. You pay the yearly charge up front instead of twelve monthly charges. That makes sense once you know the discount covers the fee every month; before then, the monthly plan lets you stop after a slow quarter.
What does each Gelato plan include?
Free: the full production network, no discounts
The free plan includes local production in 32 countries, the design editor, free product mockups, and integrations with Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce and other channels. You pay the catalog price for each product plus shipping, and there are no minimum orders.
The limits are on team size and reach. You can connect two stores and add two account users. A seller running one Etsy shop and one Shopify store with a single assistant fits; a third store or a third login does not.
Gelato+: discounts, AI tools and premium mockups
Gelato+ adds product discounts of up to 33%, and Gelato notes the discount may vary by market. It also unlocks the AI tools (Magic Mockups, Velocity Switch, Price Navigator and Instant Collections), full access to more than 800 premium mockups, a background removal tool, 250 premium fonts, text effects, and branded labels and packaging inserts for posters.
The monthly and annual plans carry the same features and the same discounts, according to Gelato's own FAQ. Shipping discounts are not part of the subscription, the help center says, so the saving is on product cost only.
There is one inconsistency to check before you scale. The plan page lists unlimited stores and users on Gelato+, while help center articles last updated in 2025 and 2026 still describe a cap of 10 stores and 5 users. If you plan to connect more than ten stores, confirm the limit with Gelato support first.
Platinum: negotiated pricing for volume sellers
Platinum has no list price. Gelato describes it as a tailored plan with personalized pricing, price matching and free samples, built around your volume and product mix, plus custom discounts on the plan page. It is a sales conversation: you describe your business and Gelato proposes terms.
That suits a brand already shipping steady volume through another printer. For a new store, Platinum is not a realistic starting point, because the terms depend on volume you do not have yet.
When does Gelato+ pay for itself?
Gelato+ pays for itself when the discount on your monthly product spend is larger than the fee. Gelato publishes the discount as "up to 33%," so we computed the break-even product spend at that ceiling and at two lower discount levels, since your actual discount depends on the products and the market.
| Average discount you actually get | Break-even product spend, monthly plan | Break-even product spend per year, annual plan |
|---|---|---|
| 33% (the published ceiling) | $90.88 a month | $726.91 a year |
| 20% | $149.95 a month | $1,199.40 a year |
| 10% | $299.90 a month | $2,398.80 a year |
Computed by Retailpresso on 19 October 2026: fee divided by discount rate, using the monthly and annual Gelato+ prices from Gelato's plan page. The 20% and 10% rows are illustrations, not Gelato figures.
The ceiling is the optimistic case. If your best sellers only get 10% off, the monthly plan needs more than three times the product spend that the headline ceiling suggests. Before subscribing, check the Gelato+ price against the regular price on the specific products you sell most, then use the matching row.
The annual plan lowers the bar to roughly $61 of product spend a month at the ceiling. That is the cheaper route for any store that will clear its row every month, but it is a full year's fee committed whether sales hold up or not.
The costs and rules the plan page leaves out
- The free trial has no discounts. Gelato+ comes with a 14-day free trial, but the help center says product discounts are only for paying subscribers. You can skip the trial and subscribe to get the discount at once.
- The trial needs a card. You pick a monthly or yearly plan and enter payment details to start it; you are not charged during the 14 days, and each account gets one trial.
- Cancelling can stop orders. When Gelato+ ends, its apps are uninstalled. Products already built with Gelato+ features, such as Shutterstock images or graphics and clipart, stay listed but Gelato will not fulfill those orders until you resubscribe or edit the design.
- Premium mockups stop being addable. After the subscription ends you cannot add new premium mockups or download high-quality mockups, and Gelato says existing premium mockups stay "for the time being."
- Store and user limits drop back. The help center says the allowance returns to two stores and two users when a subscription ends; extra stores are not removed right away, but Gelato warns restrictions may follow.
- US sales tax applies. Local taxes are added to the Gelato+ price for US customers, as the fee table notes.
- Cancel any time, renewals are automatic. Gelato+ renews automatically and can be cancelled from the dashboard; refunds are requested through Gelato's chat assistant.
How does Gelato+ compare with Printful and Printify?
The fair comparison is the subscription fee on the same billing period, because product prices differ by printer and by blank. All prices below were read on each vendor's pricing page on 19 October 2026.
| Platform | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Product discount | Free plan limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gelato+ | $29.99/mo | $19.99/mo | Up to 33% | 2 stores, 2 users |
| Printful Growth | $24.99/mo, free after $12,000 of sales a year | No annual plan listed | Up to 33% | Unlimited stores |
| Printify Premium | From $39/mo | From $24.99/mo billed yearly | Up to 33% on new products | 5 stores |
Sources: Printful pricing, Printify pricing, and Gelato's plans.
On monthly billing, Printful Growth is the cheapest paid plan, and it becomes free once a store passes $12,000 in yearly sales, which Gelato+ never does. On annual billing, Gelato+ is the cheapest, below Printify's yearly rate and with no annual Printful plan to compare. Printify's monthly Premium is the most expensive of the three.
Free plans differ more than the paid ones. Printful's free plan allows unlimited stores and Printify's allows five, while Gelato's stops at two stores and two users. A three-person team with three storefronts would need Gelato+ before it sells anything, while the same team stays free on Printful.
None of that settles which shirt is cheaper. A 33% discount on a pricier blank can still cost more than a smaller discount on a cheaper one. Gelato's real edge is local production in 32 countries, which can shorten delivery for international buyers; our Printful vs Gelato comparison weighs that against Printful's in-house production. The fee structures of the other two are broken down in Printful pricing and Printify pricing.
Which Gelato plan should a store pick?
- Stay on Free while you are testing designs, run two stores or fewer, and spend less than the break-even amount in the table each month.
- Choose Gelato+ monthly for a seasonal push, such as holiday orders, when product spend will clear the monthly row for a few months.
- Choose Gelato+ annual once your product spend clears the annual row comfortably and steadily; it is the cheapest paid plan in this comparison on yearly billing.
- Ask about Platinum when you already ship steady volume and want negotiated pricing, price matching and free samples.
If you are still choosing a printer, our best print-on-demand services ranking covers the wider field, and Etsy sellers should read print on demand for Etsy. Apparel-first stores can start from print on demand for t-shirts, and the platform under your store has its own bill in Shopify pricing.
How we priced this page
Plan prices, discounts, store and user limits, and the annual saving come from Gelato's subscription plans page, read on 19 October 2026. The currency table and the US tax note come from the help article on Gelato+ costs. Trial terms, feature lists and the end-of-subscription rules come from Gelato's help center articles on the free trial, free versus Gelato+, subscription FAQs and what happens when Gelato+ ends, read the same day. Platinum terms come from Gelato Platinum.
The break-even figures are our arithmetic on those published prices, not a quote from Gelato, and we did not place orders or run a store for this page. Louis Corneloup, who founded Toolradar and Dupple, wrote the page. Our method is on how we rate, and sourcing rules are in the editorial policy.

FAQ
How much does Gelato cost in 2026?
Gelato is free to use, and you pay only for the products you order plus shipping. Gelato+ costs $29.99/mo on monthly billing or $19.99/mo on annual billing, paid as $239.88 at once. Platinum has custom pricing for high-volume sellers.
Is Gelato really free?
Yes. The free plan has no subscription fee and no minimum order, and it includes local production in 32 countries, the design editor and free mockups. It is limited to two connected stores and two account users, and it has no product discounts.
Is Gelato+ worth it?
Gelato+ is worth it when its discount on your products is larger than the fee. At the published 33% ceiling, the monthly plan breaks even at about $91 of product spend a month; at a 10% discount you would need about $300 a month. Check the Gelato+ price on your best sellers before deciding.
Does Gelato+ have a free trial?
Yes, Gelato+ has a 14-day free trial, one per account, and you enter payment details to start it. Product discounts do not apply during the trial, so you can only test the tools; subscribing directly activates the discount at once.
What happens if I cancel Gelato+?
Gelato+ apps are uninstalled, and orders for products built with Gelato+ features, such as Shutterstock images, are not fulfilled until you resubscribe or remove those elements. Your allowance returns to two stores and two users, and you can no longer add premium mockups.
Is Gelato+ cheaper than Printful Growth or Printify Premium?
On annual billing, yes: Gelato+ has the lowest yearly rate of the three, and Printful lists no annual plan. On monthly billing, Printful Growth at $24.99 is cheaper and becomes free after $12,000 of yearly sales, while Printify Premium starts at $39 a month.
Does Gelato+ include shipping discounts?
No. Gelato's help center says shipping discounts are not included in the Gelato+ subscription. The discount of up to 33% applies to product prices, and shipping is charged on each order.
