Printful Pricing 2026: Free vs Growth Membership and Product Costs
Printful is free to use in 2026; Growth costs $24.99/mo and turns free past $12K a year in sales. Per-shirt costs, add-on fees and the Growth break-even.

Printful costs $0 a month on its Free plan in 2026, and you pay only when an order comes in: the product's catalog price, shipping and tax. Growth costs $24.99 a month and becomes free once a store reaches $12,000 a year in sales, with up to 33% off product prices. Enterprise is a custom quote for high-volume brands.
Every figure here was read on Printful's pricing page and its Growth perks page on 18 October 2026, with the shirt price taken from Printful's catalog for the Bella + Canvas 3001 the same day. Our read: the membership fee is the smallest number on a Printful bill. The product price and the add-ons decide your margin, and Growth only earns its fee once a store ships enough units for the discount to beat it.
| Plan | Monthly fee | What it adds | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 584 products, unlimited stores, Design Maker and Mockup Generator, 20% off samples | New sellers and stores still testing designs |
| Growth | $24.99, free once yearly sales reach $12,000 | Up to 33% off products, 9% off branding, 25% off samples, large front print on selected tees | Stores shipping enough units for the discount to beat the fee |
| Enterprise | Custom | A dedicated success manager, store build and management, market data | High-volume brands |
Toolradar data: Printful's Growth fee ranks 54th of 131 e-commerce tools with a verified entry price on Toolradar, the software directory we run, where the median entry price is $29 a month, and only 40% of the 350 e-commerce tools it tracks offer a free plan, as of October 2026. The record is Printful on Toolradar.
How does Printful pricing work?
Printful charges per order, not per month. When a customer buys, you pay the catalog price of the product, the shipping to that customer and any tax due, and you keep the difference between that and your retail price. Because every item is made to order, there is no inventory to pay for upfront and a month without sales costs nothing on the Free plan.
The catalog price covers more than the blank. Printful says it includes the product, one print or embroidery placement and fulfillment, which runs 2 to 5 business days. Anything beyond that is billed on top: extra placements, labels, embroidery digitization, premium stock images and branded packaging. Prices can vary slightly by fulfillment location, so the same shirt can cost a little more or less depending on where it ships from.
Shipping is the line most new sellers underestimate. Printful bills flat rates that depend on product type, order size and destination, and it splits some orders: hats, mugs, posters and several other categories always ship separately, and items made in different regions ship from different facilities. Check the shipping page for the rate on your product before you set a retail price.
What does one Printful shirt cost?
The Bella + Canvas 3001, the staple tee most stores start with, lists at $12.25 in most colors from S to XL in Printful's US catalog, with some colors at $11.92. Larger sizes cost more: 2XL is $13.75 in most colors, 3XL $15.92 and 4XL $17.92. That price includes one print in any placement.
Add-ons stack on that base, and they are where a branded product gets expensive:
| Add-on | Printful's price | When you pay it |
|---|---|---|
| Printed inside label | $0.99 per label | Every unit sold |
| Printed outside label | $2.49 per label | Every unit sold |
| Premium stock image | $1 per image, placement and item | Every unit sold |
| Embroidery digitization | $2.95 to $6.50 per design | Once per new design |
| Extra embroidery placement | $2.95 | Every unit sold |
| Large front print (Growth only) | $1.50 | Every unit sold, on selected tees |
A branded tee with an inside label costs $13.24 before shipping on the Free plan. That is the $12.25 base plus the $0.99 label. Sold at a $25 retail price, which is our example rather than a recommendation, the store keeps $11.76 before shipping, tax and platform fees. An outside label instead of an inside one takes that margin to $10.26, so every branding choice is a per-unit cost, not a one-time setup.
Is Printful Growth worth the monthly fee?
Growth pays for itself only when the discount on your products beats the fee. The discount is a ceiling, not a flat rate: up to 25% on direct-to-garment products, up to 33% on all-over print, up to 25% on home and living items and up to 9% on embroidery. The rate on a given product shows in the catalog once you are on the plan.
Our arithmetic on the Bella + Canvas 3001 at $12.25 shows how much the real rate matters:
| Discount you actually get on the shirt | Saving per shirt | Shirts a month to cover the fee |
|---|---|---|
| 25%, the direct-to-garment maximum | $3.06 | 9 |
| 15% | $1.84 | 14 |
| 10% | $1.23 | 21 |
| 5% | $0.61 | 41 |
At the full rate, a store selling 9 or more of these shirts a month comes out ahead. At a 5% rate, it needs 41, which is a different business: the same plan is a bargain for one store and a monthly loss for another. The 14-day free trial is the cheapest way to find out which row you are in, because it shows the Growth price on your own products before you pay a monthly fee.
The $12,000 waiver changes the math for established stores. Printful says the fee becomes free once yearly sales reach that figure, about $1,000 a month on average. A store past that line gets the discounts for nothing, so Growth is an easy yes. A store below it and never crossing it pays $299.88 a year, and the discount has to earn that back.
Growth also takes 9% off additional DTG and embroidery placements, raises the sample discount from 20% to 25%, and waives embroidery digitization on sample orders, which saves up to $6.50 per new embroidered design you test. Samples are limited to one order a month of up to 3 items on either plan, with more unlocked as sales grow. The plan is monthly and can be cancelled anytime, with benefits kept to the end of the billing cycle.
Who should stay on Free, and who should upgrade?
Stay on Free while you are testing designs or selling fewer shirts a month than the break-even row that matches your discount. You keep unlimited stores, the design tools and 20% off samples, and you pay nothing between orders. Most stores that open on Etsy or Shopify belong here for their first months; the print-on-demand start-up guide walks through those first costs.
Move to Growth when the trial shows a discount on your best seller that clears the fee at your real volume, or when yearly sales are close enough to the waiver line that the fee is about to disappear. Stores that sell all-over print products have the most to gain, since that category carries the highest discount ceiling, so a mug-and-leggings catalog clears the fee sooner than a tee-only shop.
Talk to Enterprise only at a volume where a dedicated success manager and a store built for you are worth a custom contract. Printful publishes no list price for it.
How Printful compares with Printify
Printify also has a $0 Free plan, and its Premium plan costs $39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly, with up to 33% off new products and 10 stores per account. The membership fees are close; the difference is the model. Printful makes every product in-house to one quality standard, while Printify routes orders to a network of print providers whose prices and quality vary.
The full head-to-head on shirt costs is in Printful vs Printify, and Printify's own plans are broken down in Printify pricing. For a third option with production close to buyers, read Printful vs Gelato. The product reviews are in the Printful review and the Printify review, and the field is ranked in best print-on-demand services, print on demand for Etsy and Printful alternatives. Directory record: Printify on Toolradar.
Marketplace fees sit on top of all of this. A shirt sold on Etsy also pays Etsy's listing, transaction and payment fees, covered in Etsy seller fees, and a Shopify store pays its plan, covered in Shopify pricing.
How we priced this
We read Printful's pricing page, Growth perks page and shipping page, plus the US catalog price of the Bella + Canvas 3001, on 18 October 2026, and Printify's pricing page the same day. The $25 retail price, the discount rates in the break-even table and the margins are our arithmetic on those list prices, not Printful quotes, and they exclude shipping, tax and marketplace fees. Retailpresso does not order or test products, so nothing here rates print quality. Prices change, so check the catalog before you set a retail price.
